dc.description
Data used in the main figures of the 2022 publication 'ALD-Deposited NiO Approaches the Performance of Platinum as a Hydrogen Evolution Cocatalyst on Carbon Nitride' in the journal ACS Catalysis (DOI: 10.1021/acscatal.2c04795). The dataset contains characterization and activity data for a series of carbon nitride samples. Different Platinum and Nickel-based cocatalysts were deposited on carbon nitride prepared from a dip-coating technique. Structural (FTIR, XPS, SEM) and optical (absorption, emission, time-resolved photoluminescence, PIAS) characterizations were obtained for the series of samples in order to explain the differences observed in photocatalytic hydrogen production in triethanolamine solutions. The data was generated to better understand how Nickel-based cocatalysts (prepared from NiCl2 or through atomic layer deposition of NiO) can be used as inexpensive alternatives to the commonly used Platinum cocatalysts.
