These files contain data on the germination and growth rates of wood-poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) grown from seeds collected from two native Canadian populations and purchased from three commercial seed companies. S. diphyllum is listed as endangered in Canada under Canada's Species at Risk Act. We warm moist stratified all seeds for 2 months and then cold moist stratified them for 2 months prior to sowing. We measured germination rates and time to germination for seeds from each source. We then transplanted seedlings into individual pots and measured the height of each plant and the number of leaves periodically. These data are associated with the article, "Comparing the germination, growth, and morphology of native Canadian and commercially-sourced seeds of wood-poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum)" by Reiter and McCune (2023). We used the data to investigate differences in germination and growth rate between S. diphyllum plants from Canadian populations and plants of United States provenance obtained from commercial seed companies.
