dc.description
This project focuses on the evaluation of a DNA-based biosensor for aqueous mercury(II) under variable pH, temperature and competing ligand compositions. In particular, this study shows that the DNA-functionalized hydrogel sensor could be a better choice than the simple DNA solution for measuring mercury(II) concentrations in complex solutions and in natural waters. The data in this research were collected in the Ecohydrology Research Group laboratories at the University of Waterloo. Funding for this work was provided by the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Ecohydrology and the Strategic Partnership Grant for Project funded by the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Note, that this data set will also be used to support research objectives in the Global Water Futures Project project titled “Sensor and Sensing Systems for Water Quality Monitoring”
