dc.description
This dataset summarizes data collected and utilized in three papers:
1) Haught, D., J. G. Venditti, andS. A. Wright (2017), Calculation of in situ acoustic sediment attenuation using off-the-shelf horizontal ADCPs in low concentration settings, Water Resour. Res., 53, doi:10.1002/2016WR019695.
2) Haught, D., Venditti, J. G., & Wright, S.A. (2020). Application of multifrequency acoustic inversions using three horizontally profiling ADCPs. Water Resources Research, 56, e2019WR025298. https://doi.org/10.1029/2019WR025298
3) Haught, D. & Venditti, J.V. (in press). Acoustically-derived sediment-index methods in large rivers: assessment of two acoustic inversion models. Water Resources Research.
and associated with:
4) Lamb, M.P., de Leeuw, J., Fischer, W.W. et al. Mud in rivers transported as flocculated and suspended bed material. Nat. Geosci. 13, 566–570 (2020). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41561-020-0602-5
We include both previously published and unpublished data not used in any of the above papers. This dataset provides physical samples of suspended sediment analyzed for concentration and particle size distribution, along with bed material samples analyzed for size distribution. Additionally, we include acoustic data from three side-looking shore-mounted ADCPs collected roughly over three years, boat-mount vertical ADCP data collected when sampling suspended sediment, along with inversion results published in the first three paper listed above. Lastly, we include discharge measurements that were used to develop an index-velocity and stage-cross-sectional area relation to develop continuous discharge used in the above publications.
